Diagnostic Utility of Bedside Lung Ultrasonography in Neonates with Respiratory Distress
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Lung Ultrasound (LUS) has recently become an important method for diagnostic examination and monitoring of lung disease. Many diseases, such as respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), transient tachypnea the newborn (TTNB), pneumonia were diagnosed by chest X-ray, but can now easily be with LUS. LUS many advantages over X-ray including accuracy, reliability, low cost, radiation free, simple investigation, do multiple times, results are obtained immediately.
Objective: The aim this study was to evaluate role in neonates (RD) within 4 hours life calculate sensitivity, specificity, negative positive predictive value RDS TTNB, using external reader blinded clinical condition.
Design Methods: Neonates born at a gestation from 28 weeks 40 hospital developing RD on first enrolled. diagnosis based clinico-radiological features ascertained treating neonatologist considered gold standard. Just before LUS, objectively scored Modified Silverman Andersen score. performed bed side life. Images captured stored interpreted Radiologist who neonate’s condition. according observational index included pleural A lines, B Air bronchogram consolidation. Based findings, differentiation between RDS, MAS Pneumonia made.
 Results: 100 studied. 22 infants had final 64 TTNB. showed Sn 100% Sp 89.7%, PPV 73.3% NPV % 82.8% 76.6% TTNB.
Conclusion: is reliable diagnose TTNB newborns high sn sp.

Diagnostic Utility of Chest X-rays in Neonatal Respiratory Distress: Determining the Sensitivity and Specificity
Background: Chest radiography is one of the most usual diagnostic tools for respiratory distress. Objective: The purpose of this study is to assess the specificity, sensitivity and clinical value of chest radiography of neonates with respiratory distress.Patients and Methods: A descriptive- analytical study was conducted on 102 neonates that were in neonatal intensive care unit of Imam Reza and...
متن کاملComparative diagnostic performances of auscultation, chest radiography, and lung ultrasonography in acute respiratory distress syndrome.
BACKGROUND Lung auscultation and bedside chest radiography are routinely used to assess the respiratory condition of ventilated patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Clinical experience suggests that the diagnostic accuracy of these procedures is poor. METHODS This prospective study of 32 patients with ARDS and 10 healthy volunteers was performed to compare the diagnostic ...

Observations made at the time of the first trial of independent ventilation in 112 episodes of mechanical ventilatory support led to identification of a group of indicators, each of which, when present, was significantly associated (p less than 0.05) with a need for continued mechanical ventilation and/or with death. Six of these were potentially suitable for use in a format for clinical assess...

متن کاملEvaluation of Serum NT-Pro Brain Natriuretic Peptide Levels in Neonates with Respiratory Distress
Background Respiratory Distress (RD) is a life-threatening respiratory failure. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value of N-terminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-pro-BNP) in distinguishing respiratory and heart diseases in neonates. Materials and Methods Hundred fifty neonates aged 2-3 days randomly collected from those who hospitalized in the related ward of the Ali ...
